Happy Monday! Man do I have an cool "find" to tell you about this morning. Wait, can I call it a find if they sent the product to me?  Maybe not but when the kind folks over at Dry Soda Co sent us an assorted 12 pack of their DRY natural bottled soda for review here on Mrs-Adventure, I felt like I had just be notified of a drink that until that moment didn't exist. So I'll stick with "find" wink, wink. Of course soon as the package arrived I had to tear into it...

Along with the package they sent a handy “suggested pairings” list. To give you an example: Its say’s Blood Orange as tangy and bright, with a high acidity, as well as great for pairing with salmon, oysters, and sweet greens. It got better from there since we love entertaining, they also included liquor suggestions as well woot woot. I tried the Blood Orange with Spiced Rum and the Vanilla with Vodka both could have been served in champagne flutes they were so bubbly at a dinner party.

Before ever opening the first bottle I was already excited about the product. They had wooed me with their fancy glass bottles, cute packaging, a  4 ingredient maximum, less sugar, natural ingredients that I could read and understand, once I tasted the light crisp vanilla I was hooked.

To be honest I still haven't tried the lemongrass favor, but I plan to. Some of the flavors seem odd and others I'm shy of just because of past experiences. I tried their lavender soda this weekend on the boat when it was good and warm outside. I was afraid since I've had lavender flavored chocolate before and thought it was awful... but the favors of these sodas were meant for "pairing" and I think that's why they are not overwhelming... if my rambling makes sense :-)

My favorite hands down was the vanilla (so far) but the blood orange runs a close second.

We are Karen and Donny Ray and our business is located LaGrange, Ohio:

We grew up in the late fifties and early sixties and are certified "baby boomers." It cost 50 cents to go to the "picture show" and a large bag of popcorn from the "dime store" was only a dime (really!). We remember the first McDonald's in Cleveland when the burgers were 15 cents and fries sold for 12 cents. Those were the days.

What we do:
We have a lot of fun eating and selling the candy we ate as kids. Sometimes we are asked how we can sell 50 year old candy. It makes us smile and our response is that our candy is fresh from the manufacturer. We don't make the candy, we tracked down the manufacturers who are still in business and sell their candy on the Internet.

Most of us have grown up, gone to college, maybe moved to a different area of the country, raised families and in the process have forgotten about the candy of our youth. We package and ship our candy every day so it gets into your hands (and mouths) quickly.

Our business history:
This adventure began in July, 1999 when we walked into a large candy store in Cleveland, Ohio that specializes in old time candy. We had no idea that many of our old time favorites still existed. It was the candy we ate as kids... Necco Wafers, Candy Buttons on paper tape, Wax Lips, Candy Cigarettes. Amazing!
We went on-line in early 2000 with our first candy assortment and began to grow. In 2003 we moved into a larger facility and expanded at the beginning of 2004. We moved into a much larger facility in August of 2006 where we are located today. 2010 began our 10th year in the candy business. Thanks for helping us be successful. We hope you like what we do and will continue to support us with your purchases and referrals.

What makes us unique:
We are actually in the "memory business." It is our hope that you will enjoy the candy and at the same time, take a trip down memory lane. Our Candy you ate as a kid® packages make wonderful gifts. Everyone loves candy, especially candy you ate as kid.

We were able to review the Slice and Bake Cookies Play Food Set and the Bake & Decorate Cupcake Set. These two sets are absolutely adorable. My kids love that you can decorate your own cupcakes. The markers are dry erase so you can just wipe off your design and start over again and again. Seriously...so cute. The cookie set comes with a knife so that you can slice the cookies and put them on the baking sheet. I love that you can change the icing easily because of the velcro. My kids have absolutely loved these two sets...they are easy enough for my 2 1/2 year old, yet still enjoyable for my 7 year old! These products are beautifully made, as are all Melissa & Doug products.

Let’s face it, kids nowadays are a lot smarter than what we knew at their age 20 some years ago. I still think that our little ones are born with an iPhone, Laptop and a Ps3, it’s amazing the Technology they already at a Toddler age, know and use. When I was little we played matching games on the kitchen table, my kids no use their Nintendo DS or the iPad to play the same games and guess what, they talk to the kids….?? Let’s face it, this is a different world and kids are required to learn at a faster pace and learn a lot more than what we had to learn. You know we love Nintendo, and I know my Toddler, Tween and my Teen all enjoy the many games that are available for the Nintendo DS. I’m as a mom, am always concerned if I buy the right game for the right kid. I really like the educational games. If the kids use computer and electronic games, why not give them something where they will learn while “playing”. You get the best of both worlds, kids are happy cause they get to play the Nintendo DS and Mom is happy because their brain is still active and working while playing.. win win for all.
